My Story

It started with a moment that I will never forget…

I was a young dietitian, learning about diabetes in rural North Carolina. At the time, I was working in the Eastern part of the state and saw so many people suffering from the effects of high blood sugars for way too long.

I worked with an amazing diabetes educator, who taught me this – your eyes, feet, kidneys and heart don’t have to weaken. You don’t have to physically suffer if you have diabetes. So many of these effects are preventable. stoppable. avoidable. You can live with diabetes and not hurt.

That diabetes educator not only helped me understand the fundamentals of diabetes, but how to support people living with the disease. Diabetes is complicated and there is not a one-size-fits- all approach.

I have been a nationally licensed Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Registered Dietitian in North and South Carolina for 17+ years, at the heart of where diabetes numbers are rising quickly. Plus, I hold a speciality certification with the Certification Board of Diabetes Care & Education

I currently work as a full-time diabetes educator in a Charleston, SC healthcare system.  Springtime Nutrition, LLC is my passion project, helping spread evidence-based information and practical resources to those aiming to prevent the progression of type 1, gestational, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.

I have seen first hand how stressful and confusing a diabetes diagnosis can be. My grandmother and father have both been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. It is not easy to live with diabetes but trust me… Take care of yourself, as early as possible. It is never too late to start!
